Training Men for the Ministry

One of the most important verses in the entire Bible is 2 Timothy 2:2 which says, And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

What we've found out to be effective in training men is to have men come in from different parts of the country who are really interested in wanting to learn the Bible and preach it. Unfortunately there is very little training in local churches elsewhere in Ukraine that will equip a man with true Biblical training that is not sliced with either Arminianistic teaching (that a man can lose his salvation) or Calvinism which is much of the same, or Post-millennialistic doctrine. The need of the hour for Bible teaching is Bible believing doctrine. Very few know how to "rightly [divide] the word of truth" (2 Tim. 2:15).

One of the greatest blessings a country may receive is the gift of faithful ministers of the word of God who are not ashamed of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Book and can rightly divide it and preach it. That is one of the greatest needs of Ukraine and other former Soviet Russian countries. Ukraine is an unstable country politically, economically, socially and spiritually. The cost of living has gone way up and it is crushing the lower income class of people. Ukraine needs God-called, faithful preachers. That is one of our objectives to fulfill - 2 Timothy 2:2 that God would raise up men "unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" (Eph. 3:13). That is what we are shooting for. That is a Biblical vision. The Bible says, Where there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18).

Institute classes are held in the summer (July) and winter (January) seasons for a whole week from morning till night, 5 days a week. Then on Saturday, all those that are called to preach are required to street preach which is not taught in other Bible colleges, and churches. God has miraculously given us men that come from different parts of the country by saving what little money they have to just get to Kiev. We do what we can to supply them with a place to stay and meals three times a day. Others simply can't afford to make it to our bi-yearly classes. There are men that most certainly would come if they had the financial help. Jobs for many of these believers pay small wages; just enough for many of them to get by. Inflation is a serious problem and work opportunities and options are slim.

God has given us a fellowship of Bible believers across Ukraine. We could have even more men come out for training if we had the budget to help them. But of course a lot of that depends on those who support us to help a student. We make it clear that each student has to give what he can so that we could see some kind of initiative on their part and help us take care of feeding men for a whole week. That is a big expense. Also we pay for their beds that are rented out in a school. That is another expense. So what the average amount for each student to pick up the slack would be approximately $30.00.

As mentioned earlier, the more help we get from our supporters the more students we could have to teach. We had about 19 students (adults) for the winter classes of January of 2009. We hope to have more and more students for each session.

Training men for the ministry see 2009 picture | see 2010 pictures is one of the most important things that the apostle Paul practiced and taught. We'd like to train as many men as possible. With your help we could really get something done for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ before we leave this earth. Time is running out. In these last days I'd like to do my very best with those who understand this burden and would like to be a blessing to others.
